    Description

    Introduction

    Shri Amarnath Cave Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is famous for the naturally formed Ice Lingam, which symbolizes Lord Shiva.

    Location

    The temple is located in a natural cave in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir, at an altitude of about 3,888 meters, surrounded by snow-covered mountains.

    Ice Lingam

    The main attraction of the temple is the Ice Lingam, formed naturally from frozen water drops inside the cave. It waxes and wanes with the phases of the moon and is considered a divine miracle.

    Mythological Significance

    According to legend, Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality (Amar Katha) to Goddess Parvati in this cave, giving the shrine its name, Amarnath.

    Pilgrimage & Yatra

    The Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage held during Shravan month (July–August). Thousands of devotees undertake this challenging journey with deep faith and devotion.
